Tasks
Background reading. If you are unfamiliar with HTML and CSS, briefly review the resources.
View source. Explore the HTML and CSS used in this website by viewing the source of this page and other pages on the course site. This functionality is available in all major web browsers, typically in a right-click context menu. See resources for instructions in Firefox; other browsers work similarly.
Developer tools. Use developer tools to change the client DOM live in your browser. Try manipulating the CSS using the styles tab and editing the HTML element tree in the DOM tab. Like with view source, this affordance is ubiquitous among common browser. The resources pages contains instructions for Chrome and Firefox; documentation for other browser is readily available online.
Make a webpage. Make a simple HTML file in your private repo with some static content. Using the style tag in the HTML or a linked CSS file, add some styling. Do NOT use LLMs to generate your page. (We aren't looking for anything fancy---just that you spend some time engaging with these languages by hand.)
