Prep 4: MongoDB

Due: Thursday, October 1st, 10am
Submission: On Commons

Overview

In this prep, you will get familiar with MongoDB, the database we will use for both the personal and group projects.

MongoDB is a document database. Unlike a relational database, which organizes data into tables and relationships between them, MongoDB stores data as documents. These documents can contain values, arrays, and nested documents, making it possible to represent structured application data in a flexible way.

Tasks

  1. Set up MongoDB. Follow the instructions in the MongoDB Setup Guide to set up MongoDB in your local development environment.

  2. Complete the setup tests. Complete all steps in the setup guide through Step 5 and make sure that all 5 test cases pass.

  3. Submit your work. In your class repository, include a screenshot showing that all 5 test cases from Step 5 are passing. Submit a link to your work on Commons.
